Energy Efficiency

What we do: Automating data access
UtilityAPI is automating the process of collecting and cleaning electric utility data. With explicit authorization from the utility account holder, we pull all relevant data and structure it so it’s easy to use. Our data can be easily plugged in to any energy efficiency evaluation tool. We use Green Button data, but also collect more residential and commercial data:
  • Bill amounts
  • TOU and tier breakdown
  • Demand charges
  • PDF bills
  • 15-min interval data for commercial and industrial customers (smart meter data if available)
  • Tariff name
  • Easily imported to software tools or Excel

Ways to get started with UtilityAPI

PACE project assessment
Evaluate a site for a PACE project by pulling its historical electricity consumption. It's a fast, easy, and affordable way to baseline a building. After the project is completed, continue to monitor electricity consumption for measurement and verification of savings.
Baselining for energy efficiency
How do you know what the usage should be if you don’t know what the usage is and how to improve it? How do you size what the energy efficiency upgrade should be. UtilityAPI data is historical bill and interval data, where available, so you’re able to get an accurate baseline of electricity demand at a site quickly. We provide clean data for easy analysis.
Demand response
If you know what your usage patterns are and you know your tariff, you can plan for and participate in demand response in the most economical way.
Measurement and verification
Data actuals are necessary to measure and verify savings. UtilityAPI provides continuous monitoring of electricity consumption so you can measure the electricity and bill savings with actual data, not algorithms.
Financeability
Something that is more readily measureable, before and after, is a more likely candidate for financing.
