Last year, the Energy Department launched a largest-of-its-kind hackathon, SunShot Catalyst, in an effort to help build software solutions that will make it faster, easier, and more affordable for Americans to choose solar energy to power their daily lives. In January, SunShot competitively selected 17 promising teams to move forward in the overall Catalyst Prize competition. UtilityAPI is one of them! UtilityAPI decided to use the TopCoder resources in the prototyping phase of Catalyst to develop Software Development Kits (SDKs) so that software developers could develop iPhone and Android apps using UtilityAPI's technology. Software developers can access the SDKs on UtilityAPI's GitHub. The data we pull reduces customer acquisition and customer management costs for solar. We gather and clean data so it’s easy for solar companies to complete solar proposals using the best data, finance their projects, and mange their customers after installation. We easily collect GreenButton data, but we also collect so much more.
